The author is ORCA Member John Bechtold. Released in 2024, this limited edition book covers Arthur Kovalovsky’s early years in Hollywood, CA. Also covers big game fishing history, Arthur’s two sons, Oscar and Lewis, and their roles in the tackle business. In addition to the family’s hunting and gunsmithing, the book includes a complete history of Oscar’s partnership with Fin-Nor and Angling Products, Inc. (API), and the big game fishing tackle companies that competed with Kovalovsky. Lastly, Oscar’s beautiful prototype fly reels and big game reels.
This 384-page book has over 800 images, stunning photography, and letters and documents from the Kovalovsky estate. Includes an in-depth examination of all their reels, including patent drawings, descriptions, and pictures of different models. Photos of many tools and jigs Arthur used to make various reel parts are shown.
